My name is Sven Richter. I am an energy electronics specialist and have been a passionate developer for more than 20 years. Whether developing electric boat propulsion systems, converting vehicles to electric power, or designing innovative lithium battery and automation technologies, I always focus on practical, efficient, and durable solutions. What drives me is the passion to rethink proven technologies and create real value through innovative ideas. This enthusiasm also accompanies me in my private life: as a passionate water sports enthusiast, I combine my technical expertise with my love of the water. For me, this is the perfect combination of electric mobility, sustainability, and real-world practical experience.

50 Years of Technical Expertise and Family Tradition
Our story began more than 50 years ago – in a small workshop in southern Brandenburg. As early as the 1960s, my grandfather was building and developing electric boat motors with great ingenuity and using the materials available in East Germany at the time.
My father continued this passion. For almost 40 years, he built complete motorboats, repaired cars, and restored historic vehicles. The workshop was my home. I learned from my grandfather and father from an early age. I gained my first experience on the water in our family boats – and that passion is still with me today.
In 2000, I started boating with my own boats. I soon realized that noise, exhaust fumes, and constant refueling simply did not fit with nature, tranquility, and freedom on the water. We switched to a sailing boat – but even there, a motor is needed for maneuvering in harbors and during periods of calm.
In 2007, as an energy electronics specialist, I had an idea: an electric propulsion system with a lithium battery would be the perfect solution. However, the electric propulsion systems available at the time did not convince me – neither in terms of performance nor quality. So I began developing my own electric outboard motor with a specially adapted battery system.
In 2009, I founded RiPower. By 2011, the first RiPower propulsion systems were already operating on German lakes and rivers. Today, our systems are used not only in Germany but also in Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Croatia, Greece, and Hungary. Combined with solar energy systems, we offer genuine independence on boats, at marinas, and in vehicles – both on water and on land.
Because what works on water also works on land: Alongside boat propulsion systems, I began converting vehicles with internal combustion engines to electric power at an early stage – long before electric cars became mainstream.
At the same time, I now advise companies, project developers, and testing organizations working in the field of electric mobility – both on water and on land.
In 2017, my sole proprietorship became RiPower GmbH. Together with an automotive repair workshop, we not only electrified countless boats but also converted numerous vehicles. Our range of services extends from small electric drive systems to propulsion systems for boats up to 30 meters in length.
Special milestones include the construction of our solar-powered electric boats, the “SpeedKat” and “CyberKat”, as well as the full electrification of a Chevrolet Silverado.
In 2023, the next major step followed: we founded RiPower Trading Ltd. & Co. KG. The company focuses on the international distribution of electric propulsion solutions and boats. At the same time, we are exploring new business areas such as photovoltaic energy storage, AC and DC charging technology, and micromobility.
Our driving force has always remained the same: rethinking technology – sustainably, practically, and future-proof!
